Literature and Reading: Affixes and roots, reading for comprehension and vocabulary enhancement using selected texts, and leveled readers. Work on elements and types of poetry. Genres: myths and fables.
Writing: Continue to work on adjective and adverbs and using the 6 + 1 traits to write in persuasive, narrative, and expository modes. Write to respond to text using evidence and our own ideas. Complete a research paper for an African-American figure.
